Description

Podere I Gigli is a farmhouse just a few steps away from the centre of Castiglion Fiorentino, which you can easily reach on foot in less than 10 minutes when you want to stretch your legs. The railway station, which is 500 metres from the property, is also within easy reach and makes the house particularly suitable for all types of travel should you wish to visit Tuscany and Central Italy without taking a car.
The farm mainly produces cereals, but around the house you can also enjoy the view of vineyards, olive groves and fruit trees. The owners will be happy to let you taste and buy their pure Sangiovese wine, extra virgin olive oil and other products of the farm, proudly handed down from father to daughter.

The house is surrounded by a large, well-kept garden, shaded and filled with flowers and plants. In the relaxation area, furnished with table and chairs, you can comfortably enjoy your meals in the open air. At the back of the house, in a sunny position, there is a swimming pool measuring 4.5x9m, 1.50m deep and completely fenced ( open from 11 May to 28 September) for the safety of your children.

Another corner that we think you will appreciate is the sun terrace on the first floor, where you will find a small lounge with a sun umbrella, table and chairs, ideal for aperitifs in the cool of summer evenings.
There is also a vegetable garden with fresh seasonal vegetables that you can pick daily.

Podere I Gigli is an old stone farmhouse, dating back to the early 1900s, which has recently been renovated and brought back to life while maintaining the structure, which still exudes ancient history and farming traditions. The grit floors and exposed beams have been preserved and together with the rustic furnishings and antiques and local crafts, personally and carefully chosen by the owner, make the house a truly ideal place for your holidays.
The owners who live next door, although discreet, will be a sure reference point for any need you may have.

    Lovely place to stay

Lovely place to stay with friendly, very hospitable owners ( thank you for everything,Sabrini and family). Walking distance to train station and town ( uphill, but not far). Delicious wine available direct from the farm - a large jug was waiting for us on arrival! One of the nicest things was having a large terrace at the rear, ideal for the evening watching the sunset. Would highly recommend.

    Great time

We had a great time here with two families (two small children). Though we were with two families, we had enough privacy in the house and a nice living area big enough to have breakfast or diner together. It was nice we had airconditioning in both bedrooms. We enjoyed the fact there was a BBQ and the pool was really nice, also for the children (and good there was a fence around it). The owner of the house was really friendly and supportive and easy she lives in the house next to it, so we could have contact when that was needed. The center of Castiglion Fiorentino is also close by, easy to reach and good restaurants and gelato. Overall a wonderful holiday and we would definately recommand this house.

    Perfect villas for us

This was a perfect villa for us. Sabrina (our hostess) was very accommodating and even provided us with some fresh eggs & tomatoes along with some Biscotti. She invited us to help with harvesting the grapes (one the trips highlights). Since we had previously been to Tuscany and had seen the major sites, we wanted a place where we could visit the lesser known hill towns of Tuscany & Umbria. The location for us was perfect.

    Highly recommended

wonderful villa! very spacious and well equipped. 5 min walk to the town And railway station (didn't hear the trains once) direct to Florence and Rome. Town has loads of restaurants, bars and 4 supermarkets to choose from. Villa was spotless, as were the pool and gardens. owner and family were amazing, very welcoming and friendly - went our their way to settle us in, but not intrusive. we are booking again next year as also a great base for exploring sienna and surrounding towns and cities. Pictures show a great villa with private pool - but do not do it justice !! Highly recommended.

    Very good location

Very good location for trips to Arezzo, Assisi, Cortona, Florence, Perugia, and Sienna. House is well cared for; bedrooms have air conditioning and mosquito nets, which is very nice. We personally did not find the beds very pleasant. Airing the living room in the evening without immediately getting mosquitoes inside is difficult. One should not imagine too much of the WiFi; enough for occasional mail retrieval, but not good enough for more intensive use with several people. The welcome by the owner, who lives in the house next door, was most cordial. Pool in the garden is fantastic.

    Really welcoming

Really welcoming family. Wonderful delivery of warm home made tart and fresh tomatoes during our stay. A short but steep walk to local restaurants and we were able to walk to the train station for a trip to Florence. Beautiful pool!

    Spacious and clean house

The house was spacious, clean and had great grounds. The swimming pool had just opened and is a really good size. The location is fantastic, being only a few minutes walk from the station and the supermarket, but you still felt you were in the countryside. We didn’t have a car and managed to get everywhere we wanted by train or by foot (although we are all regular walkers). The hostess and her parents are lovely, and kept bringing us vegetables they had grown. We also had the chance to sample their own wine and olive oil, which were both excellent. Our group included six adults and a baby, and everyone loved it.
