Description
La Ferriera is an ancient hamlet perched on a wooded hill just outside the characteristic village of Loro Ciuffenna. The main body of the structure dates back to the end of the 18th century; here the energy provided by the force of the water of the river Ciuffenna, on which the village overlooks, was exploited by means of a turbine for the production of iron. The bridge that crosses the river to the entrance is beautiful. In later years, a spinning mill with silkworm breeding was added to one of the buildings, which supplied the entire village and surrounding areas with its fabrics.
Loro Ciuffenna, which can be easily reached on foot in five minutes, is a small and industrious village, very well maintained and cared for, colourful flowers and plants embellish its small historic centre, and it is crossed by an imposing bridge over the river that bathes it, with its majestic arches built on the rock. There are numerous restaurants, cafes and small shops in the village.
In addition to the restaurant and wine bar, where you can enjoy typical dishes and excellent local wines, the facility also offers a large swimming pool with sun umbrellas, a large gazebo and sun loungers (size mt. 14x7. - depth mt. 1,50) and a multi-purpose tennis and five-a-side football court, which are located in a panoramic position, in the green terraces above the building, and can be reached by stairs and special paths along the wide park. There is also a laundry room with washing machine and dryer (extra charge).
There are a total of 19 flats in the small stone hamlet, divided into two-room and three-room flats, each with its own outdoor area with table and chairs, and enriched with beams and terracotta floors that recall the Tuscan tradition of times gone by.
In our opinion, the uniqueness of the place is precisely its location, lying on the high, rocky banks of the Ciuffenna torrent, which plunges with a marvellous waterfall over the river bed and down into the village. It is also refreshing to cool off in its clear waters, or to relax on the large stones sun-baked in the summer.
When we cross the Ferriera bridge, we are as if catapulted into an enchanted world, almost into another era. The beauty of the buildings, articulated on several floors, the stone staircases, the small paved courtyards, the roofs made in the typical local architecture of tiles and stones placed on different levels, make it a small jewel, a magical hamlet where you can spend a relaxing holiday, immersed in nature and accompanied by the soothing sound of the cool waters of the Ciuffenna.

Depending on your needs and availability, the apartment can be allocated on the ground floor, first floor, second floor or on 2 levels.

Breakage deposit Euro 200 per apartment (payable in cash on your arrival and held by the owner for the duration of your stay). During their stay, should travellers cause any damage to the property, they will be liable for the associated costs.
